Kapolei man pulled from water identified

A 36-year-old Kapolei man who died Sunday after being pulled from knee-deep water at Nanakuli Beach Park Saturday afternoon was identified this morning.

City Emergency Services transported Pauufi Mikaele Jr. at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday from the beach park to St. Francis-West hospital.

The cause of death is still pending the results of an autopsy, according to the Office of the City Medical Examiner and police.

Hawai'i Kai man arrested in connection to assault incidents

A 31-year-old Hawai'i Kai man was arrested at Honolulu International Airport Sunday night in connection to two alleged assault incidents.

On Dec. 14, the man and his 41-year-old wife got into an argument after which he struck his wife with his car, causing minor injuries, police said. Two days later, the couple got into another argument, during which the man choked his wife, police said.

The man reportedly left town for business and returned Christmas Eve. Police were waiting for him at the airport an arrested the man on suspicion of felony abuse of a household member in the second degree.

Man arrested in tie to burglary, assault incident

A 50-year-old man was arrested last night after he allegedly broke into his girlfriend's apartment and assaulted her, police said.

At 10:30 p.m. last night police responded to a burglary call in the Waipahu area. A 38-year-old woman told police her 50-year-old boy friend showed up drunk and broke several glass louvers to get into her apartment after she told him to go home. Once inside, the man reportedly hit and choked the woman, told police.

Responding officers arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree burglary, felony abuse of a household member, and criminal property damage in the fourth degree.
