Surf will rise again tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

For surfers, today could be called the calm before the storm.

The small north swell expected to reach the islands today will be followed by a large northwest swell tomorrow. The northwest swell will bump the surf up significantly to near the warning level of 25 feet for the north facing shores of O'ahu. The west side of O'ahu will have advisory level surf of 12 feet or more.

The swell is expected to peak late tomorrow then gradually subside Friday and through the weekend.

Today, surf along north-facing shores will be 5 to 7 feet while surf along west-facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet and 1 to 3 feet along east- and south-facing shores.
