Punahou band plays in Tournament of Roses Parade

Advertiser Staff

The 242-member Punahou School Marching Band will represent Hawai'i in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, Calif.

This is the third time the Punahou band has performed in the Rose Parade, which precedes the Rose Bowl. The last time was in 1999.

The 118th Rose Parade, with the theme "Our Good Nature," will begin at 6 a.m. Hawai'i time on KITV, Channel 4, and feature 20 marching bands from throughout the country as well as dramatic floral floats and equestrian units.

Pasadena officials estimate about one million people attend the parade each year and in 2006 over 16 million households worldwide watched it on TV.
