Advertiser Staff

Saying, "America has lost a faithful and long-standing leader," Hawai`i Gov. Linda Lingle today ordered flags flown at half-staff on all state and county buildings for 30 days to commemorate the passing of former President Gerald R. Ford.

The order was part of a proclamation issued by the governor that said "During his time in the Oval Office, (Ford) helped American begin to heal from the tumultuous era of Vietnam and Watergate.

"He was a great American and will surely be missed," Lingle said. The governor urged residents and visitors to offer their condolences to the Ford Family.
