Italian food expert Lynne Rosetto Kasper to speak at Halekulani

Radio host and food expert Lynne Rosetto Kasper will talk about northern Italian culinary traditions at a lecture on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 at the Halekulani Hotel.

The event, co-presented by the Hale 'Aina 'Ohana, will run from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cost is $75 per person and will include a food-and-wine reception and copy of Kasper's award-winning book, "The Splendid Table: Recipes from Emilia-Romagna, the Heartland of Northern Italian Food."

Kasper is the host the public-radio show "The Splendid Table," which airs at 9 a.m. Saturdays on KIPO-FM, 89.3. The show was named the 1999 Best National Radio Show on Food by the James Beard Foundation and the 2000 Best National Syndicated Talk Show by American Women in Radio and Television.

For 10 years she has researched the region of Emilia-Romagna, widely known for producing three of the country's world-class foods: Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma and the true balsamic vinegar that is aged for decades and sipped as a liqueur.
