UH's Grice won't play tonight against San Francisco

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i women's basketball co-captain Brittany Grice, who has played through leg injuries this season, will be held out of tonight's game against visiting San Francisco.

The 6-foot-4 senior center has been "cleared to play," but was held out on a decision by UH coach Jim Bolla, according to team spokesman Neal Iwamoto. No other details were immediately released.

Grice is averaging 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. She is second on the team in blocks with 13.

She played a career-high 43 minutes in 71-68 overtime victory over visiting Evansville on Dec. 15 in the team's last tournament.

Hawai'i (5-5) hosts San Francisco (4-8) in the opening round of the Bank of Hawai'i Invitational at 7 tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Grice is a preseason 2006-07 Western Athletic Conference first-team honoree as voted by the league coaches and is a three-time Academic All-WAC selection.

She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII Third Team and All-WAC Defensive Team last season.
