Man, 41, arrested after fleeing accident scene

Advertiser Staff

A 41-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly trying to flee the scene of a multi-car accident on Vineyard Street near Liliha at 10:35 p.m.

Police said the man was driving a 1997 Ford north on Vineyard Street when he rammed into the back of a 1998 Honda Civic that was being driven by a 24-year-old female. The Civic, in turn, back-ended a 1999 Toyota Sienna, which hit a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The 41-year-old man exited his car and tried to flee, police said, but was caught just around the corner.

A 29-year-old male passenger in the Honda Civic was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, but the driver was treated at the scene and released.

The 24-year-old motorcycle driver was not injured, and the 38-year-old male driver in the Sienna and his 14-year-old female passenger were treated at the scene and released.

Police said it appears speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
