State extends year-end tax filing deadline

State tax returns and payments that have a due date of Dec. 31, 2006, will have an extended deadline because post offices will be closed on Tuesday with the observance of the national day of mourning for former President Gerald Ford.The state Department of Taxation said the new due date is Jan. 3.
