Cardinals sign Kahuku alum Francisco to extension

Associated Press

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals have signed safety Aaron Francisco to a four-year contract extension. The move, announced today, will keep him under contract through the 2010 season.

Francisco, a Kahuku High School alumnus, initially signed with Arizona in 2005 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Brigham-Young University.

He has appeared in all 15 games this season, including two starts, with 29 tackles and two interceptions on defense. He also leads the Cardinals with 22 special-teams tackles. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate as a special-teams player.

Francisco played in 11 games as a rookie, mostly on special teams.

Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
