Surf declines on north and west shores
Advertiser Staff
Waves along north-facing shores continued to decline in size overnight, prompting the National Weather Service to cancel its high-surf advisory at 4 a.m. for all north- and west-facing shores. The surf should still pack a wallop, though.
North-facing shores should see wave faces of 10 to 14 feet today. Wave faces on western shores will roll in at 6 to 10 feet.
The declining trend is expected to continue through much of New Year's Day, but a very large northwest swell is expected to arrive late that Monday, the weather service said.
All small-craft advisories also were canceled.
