Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office has identified one of two men who were found dead yesterday in near-shore waters at separate O'ahu locations.

Scot Gomes, 37, of Wai'anae was identified as the person found off White Plains Beach in Kalaeloa and pronounced dead by Emergency Medical Services at around 3:20 p.m. yesterday.

Another man believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s was found in the surf off Kapahulu Groin early yesterday morning near a popular Waikiki body boarding spot known as The Wall. EMS pronounced that man dead at around 5:15 a.m.

Authorities have yet to determine the identity of the Waikiki victim, the Medical Examiner's Office said. The causes of death for the men have not been announced, pending autopsies.

Police investigations are continuing.
