Pleasant weather should accompany the new year

Advertiser Staff

New Year's Eve revelers can expect dry and pleasant weather today, with partly cloudy conditions and moderate trade winds, the National Weather Service said.

Winds of 10 to 15 mph will contribute to smoky conditions as fireworks activity increases through today and tonight.

The atmosphere is quite stable and any shower activity through New Year's Day should be limited to mountain areas.

An increase in trade wind showers is forecast for Tuesday on the Big Island, however, and late Tuesday for the rest of the state, the weather service said.

Temperature highs today will be 79 to 84 degrees, with lows tonight of 68 to 73 degrees.

The first day of 2007 will be partly cloudy, with scattered showers possible in windward and mauka areas, the weather service said. Continued easterly winds of 10 to 15 mph should clear any leftover fireworks haze.
