Oregon senior forward Nicole Garbin, a 2001 Baldwin graduate, was named the offensive MVP at the team's banquet Sunday after scoring a school-record 10 goals in 2005.

Garbin is appealing the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility due to medical hardship, a process that is expected to be completed next month.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Pepperdine freshman forward/guard Taylor Smith (Kalaheo '05) had five points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist in a 50-48 loss to Loyola Marymount on Saturday.

    With 54 seconds remaining, Smith made 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game at 48.

  • Menlo (Calif.) sophomore guard Kepua Lee (Moanalua '04 of Honolulu) scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 58-50 win over Dominican on Saturday.

    Freshman guard Kelci Fushikoshi (Lahainaluna '05) scored 11.

    Lee tied a season-best with a game-high 26 points in a 63-59 win over Notre Dame de Namur Friday.

  • Barton County (Great Bend, Kan.) Community College sophomore forward Sunshine Misa-Uli (Farrington '04) recorded her eighth career double-double when she had 18 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-74 loss to Cloud County on Saturday.

    SWIMMING

  • UC Irvine sophomore Randall Tom (Seabury Hall '04 of Wailuku) won the 200 butterfly (1:50.16), 200 breaststroke (2:05.68) and the 200 individual medley (1:51.94) at a dual meet against UC San Diego on Saturday.

    Sophomore Chelsea Nagata (Maui '04 of Kahului) won the 100 backstroke (57.87), 50 freestyle (23.90) and the 100 butterfly (56.40).

  • Florida senior Nick Borreca (Punahou '02) placed third in the 100 freestyle (45.57) in a dual meet with Tennessee on Saturday. His 400-yard medley relay team won in 3:16.35.

    MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

  • BYU junior opposite Jonathan Charette (Pearl City '03) had 10 kills, three aces, three digs and five blocks in a 26-30, 30-22, 25-30, 30-26, 19-17 loss to UCLA on Saturday.

  • Pepperdine junior outside hitter Jon Grobe (Iolani '02) had 12 kills, hitting .476, along with six digs and one block, in a 30-28, 30-19, 30-25 sweep of UC San Diego on Friday.

  • Cal State Northridge redshirt sophomore outside hitter Isaac Kneubuhl (Kamehameha '03 of Pukalani, Maui) had eight kills with a .381 hitting percentage, along with four aces and six digs, in a 33-35, 30-17, 30-27, 30-23 win over Pacific on Saturday.

  • Lindenwood (St. Charles, Mo.) freshman outside hitter Devin Shiroma (Damien '05) tallied 13 kills in a 25-30, 30-26, 30-26, 30-27 win over Quincy University (Ill.).

    Quincy sophomore libero Michael Contee (Iolani '03) had a game-high 21 digs.

    Shiroma had 10 kills in a 23-30, 30-25, 30-21, 28-30, 19-17 win over NAIA No. 1 California Baptist. Cal Baptist sophomore outside hitter Corey Spence (Seabury Hall '03) had two kills and 10 digs.

    MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Colorado School of Mines (Golden, Colo.) freshman guard Kyle Pape (Iolani '05) led his team in scoring in both games over the weekend.

    He scored 17, with five rebounds, in a 56-52 loss to Fort Hays State on Friday, and 18 in a 52-42 win over Chadron State on Saturday.

    TRACK AND FIELD

  • Washington senior Lauran Dignam (Iolani '02 of 'Aina Haina) placed third in the 400 (56.54) at the University of Washington Indoor Invite on Saturday.

    California-Berkeley freshman Fran Weems (Kealakehe '05 of Kailua, Kona) placed seventh in the 400 (58.41) and eighth in the 200 (25.62).

    GYMNASTICS

  • Maryland senior Mandy Pascual (Punahou '01 of 'Aiea) scored a 9.700 on the uneven bars to place ninth at a quad meet with Kentucky, Maryland, James Madison and North Carolina on Sunday.
