The Big Island's Waimea community will celebrate in a big way at today's Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attractions include performers and artisans from Japan, hula, cultural demonstrations and displays, food booths, mochi-pounding, arts and crafts and a quilt exhibit.

It all happens at Church Row Park, Parker Ranch Center and other sites; detailed itineraries available at festival venues. Free shuttles will take attendees site to site. Admission is free. (808) 961-8706.
