Advertiser Staff

A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the beating of his 51-year-old uncle in Kuli'ou'ou Valley.

Family members told police that the suspect had been acting strangely at their home. At about 1:55 p.m., the younger man was seen beating the older man in the front yard.

The family attempted to separate them, but failed, and called police. Officers arrived and arrested the younger man after a brief struggle.

The older man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with head and chest injuries. The 19-year-old was booked on one count of attempted murder.

Charges were pending last night.
