Mauna Lani hotel special extended

Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows on the Big Island is extending its springtime early-bird special for March 1 through May 30. Guests booking a vacation before Feb. 28 will receive a fifth night free, plus a $100 credit per room night. Guests who book an ocean-view or higher room category will receive the fifth night free and a $200 credit per room night.

Polynesian valentine: The Polynesian Cultural Center Valentine's Day special includes a dance under the stars with musical guest Kapena. Couples begin the evening with a twilight canoe ride through the villages, followed by a prime-rib and shrimp dinner, topped off with the dance. Cost is $50 per couple. Reservations: 293-3333.

On Kaua'i: Hanalei Colony Resort is offering an Explore Napali package for adventurous travelers, through Dec. 19 that includes five or seven nights' accommodations in a twobedroom ocean-view condominium, an SUV rental for the duration, a two-hour guided tour of historic Limahuli Garden, a kayak for a day on the Hanalei River, an in-room or beachfront massage for two, a guidebook on hiking Kaua'i's trails, and a special hiking gift (package is priced for two people but can be extended up to a party of four for an additional fee).

The five-night package is $1,770 low season (through May 31, and Sept. 9 to Dec. 19) and $1,895 for high-season travel (June 1 to Sept. 8). The seven-night package price is $2,025 for low season and $2,175 during high season.
