1924: Janet T. MacIntyre is elected one of 15 directors of Bishop Trust Co. Ltd. She is the first woman to become a director of a large financial institution in Hawai'i.
1960: The floor of Halema'uma'u collapses and a lava pool begins to form.
1974: The Board of Water Supply adopts a schedule of monthly sewer-use charges to go into effect April 1.
2004: Workers at Hawaiian Cement go on strike. Now both of O'ahu's major concrete companies are shut down.
