Man arrested for car theft, drugs

A 45-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of multiple felony offenses yesterday after police found him driving a car that a 53-year-old man had reported was stolen from him on Friday.

Police stopped the suspect about 2:10 a.m. in Honolulu to arrest him for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

The arresting officers reporting seeing what appeared to be dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia within the car and arrested the man on suspicion of drug offenses as well.



Police investigating infant's leg injury

Police have opened an assault investigation after Kalihi woman took her 3-month-old baby boy to the hospital Monday where the infant was diagnosed with a broken leg.

The mother told investigators that she left the baby in a bedroom with three other children about 3 p.m. Feb. 1 while she went to the kitchen to prepare a bottle for him. Police said the mother told investigators that she heard the baby screaming, went back to the bedroom and was told by the other children that a 3-year-old child who was in the room had hurt the baby.

The mother said she decided to take the baby to the doctor because it was crying more than usual over the weekend and one of his legs appeared to be swollen.

Police had made no arrests as of this morning.



Ex-boyfriend arrested for taking car without permission

A 26-year-old man was arrested in Waialua yesterday after his ex-girlfriend, 27, told police he took her car without permission.

Police located the former boyfriend about 3:30 p.m. and arrested him for suspicion of unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.



Punchbowl man arrested in connection to sexual assaults

A 38-year-old lower Punchbowl area man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in an alleged series of sexual assaults that took place between August 2004 and July 2005.

A woman, who is now 19, told police she was sexually assaulted on a number of occasions by a family member.
