Super Bowl betting sets state record

The amount bet on the Super Bowl set a record for Nevada sports books. The handle of more than $94.5 million marked the fifth consecutive year of increases, and the casinos won $8.8 million, or 9.3 percent of the money bet.

GRANDER: The MGM Grand is taking reservations at the Signature at MGM Grand. Signature is the hotel part of the Residences at MGM Grand, a three-tower condominium project. Rates start at $200 a night.

LOTS OF BEERS: With nearly 650 different brands, a Las Vegas bar called the Freakin' Frog (www.FreakinFrog.com) claims the largest beer list in Nevada, and one of the largest in the country. Top imports are $4 or $5. Freakin' Frog is on Maryland Parkway about three miles east of the Strip.

GVR SPECIALS: Green Valley Ranch's steak-and-eggs special in the Grand Cafe, Mondays through Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m., is $4.99. On the same days from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., you can get steak and fried shrimp for $7.99.

A. Try the Eiffel Tower at Paris, Top of the World at the Stratosphere, or Alize at the Palms, all of which have good food and spectacular views.
