POLICE BEAT
Trio arrested over stolen pipe

Advertiser Staff

Three men were arrested yesterday morning after police found the trio allegedly removing copper pipe from a state-owned building on the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station.

Patrol officers were sent to the building in the 1800 block of Saratoga Road about 7:40 a.m. and found the three men — ages 42, 45 and 52 — removing pipe from the building.

Each of the men was charged with second-degree burglary.

Man allegedly provides pornography to boy

A 30-year-old Aina Haina man was arrested last night for allegedly providing pornographic materials to a 14-year-old Kahala boy.

The boy told police the man, who was described as an acquaintance, gave him pornographic magazines and a DVD to view.

Police arrested the man about 11:30 p.m. on suspicion of promoting pornography for minors, a felony offense.

Police seeking robbery suspect

Police arrested one suspect and were looking for a second in connection with the robbery of a 29-year-old man in Kalihi yesterday.

Police said the victim was driving his car with two passengers in it and was attempting to drive out of a cul-de-sac about 12:40 p.m. when two men in a pickup truck blocked his way.

The victim told police the two men got out of the truck, walked up next to his car and began punching, kicking and hitting him with a wooden axe handle.

He said the robbers ripped a gold chain from around his neck and stole his cell phone, and took a vacuum cleaner from the trunk of his car.

The two robbers left the area and the victim followed them in his car, eventually flagging down a police officer.

The officer ordered the truck driver to pull over. The driver complied momentarily but took off again.

Police caught up with the truck a second time, at which point it contained only the driver, who was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery. The other robbery suspect had not been arrested as of this morning, police said.
