Lion Coffee this week introduced a new line of bolder-flavored coffees, Supreme Roast Special Blend, including a light medium and a European espresso. Jim Wayman of Hawaii Coffee Co., the manufacturer, said the new products are in response to a preference on the part of today's customers for more intense flavors.

The coffee is in stores now in whole bean and auto-drip grind packages of 10-12 ounces. As an introductory promotion, the company has a mail-in offer for a French press coffeemaker with any purchase of five bags of Lion Coffee Supreme Roast; check with your retailer. The coffees sell for $8 to $10 a package.

FOOD AND FASHION

A LITTLE FUSION CLOTHING TO GO WITH YOUR FUSION CUISINE

Among the hot tables on Maui is Fire Dragon Bistro Orient and Design Shop, a restaurant and clothing boutique combined, which opened in The Shops at Wailea just before New Year's. Executive chef John Lo, formerly of the P.F. Chang's chain, prepares contemporary "family style" Chinese with a hint of Thai, Singapore and Malaysian influences.

The eatery-boutique is the result of a partnership between Walter Bissett, who has managed restaurants around the country, and Malaysia-born designer Bernard Tristan Foong. Like the food, the clothes are a fusion of Asian-inspired ideas, as is the decor.
