Joseph Colasacco of 'Aina Haina was charged with eight felony counts of electronic enticement of a child, third-degree sex assault and promoting pornography to minors.
City Deputy Prosecutor Vickie Kapp told Circuit Judge Derrick Chan that Colasacco does not have any prior arrests, but is a danger to the victim and the community.
Chan approved Kapp's request to set bail for Colasacco at $20,000.
Colasacco is accused of communicating with the boy through the Internet on three separate dates, starting on Jan. 14 when he allegedly met the boy at a theater and fondled him.
He also met with the boy again on Feb. 8 through the computer and gave him pornographic materials, the indictment said.
On Sunday, he again communicated with the boy through the computer and gave him two magazines and a DVD video showing naked men and sex acts, according to the indictment and a police affidavit.
Colasacco was arrested late Sunday night after the boy's stepfather found him pretending to be asleep on the boy's bed, the affidavit said.
The boy told police that Colasacco arrived at the boy's house earlier that night and brought with him the magazines and the DVD video, the document said.
The stepfather told police he feared there may have been an "indecent relationship" between Colasacco and the boy, according to the affidavit.
Colasacco will be arraigned later this month when he is expected to plead not guilty to the charges and get a trial date.
