Arrest in Makiki bank robbery

A 44-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Makiki bank last month was arrested yesterday in Waikiki.

At 11:11 a.m. on Jan. 18, the man allegedly walked into a bank and approached a teller. He then pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money, police said. The man fled on foot East on South King Street with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

Officers with HPD's District six Crime Reduction Unit located and arrested the suspect.



Wai'anae man arrested in car break-in

A 41-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly broke into a tourist's rental car in Wai'anae, police said.

At 7:33 a.m. a female tourist flagged down a patrol officer near a Wai'anae area beach park. The responding officer noticed a man running away from the area with a backpack. The man tried to evade the officer but was eventually stopped and arrested on suspicion of breaking into the woman's car.



Teen arrested for alleged teacher threat

A 15-year-old Leeward Coast boy was arrested yesterday after allegedly threatening his teacher.

At 9:10 a.m. Wednesday the 37-year-old teacher was trying to find out who in her class was responsible for causing a "disturbance," police said. Police did not elaborate on what that disturbance was.

The student felt he was being wrongfully targeted and became angry. A verbal confrontation ensued and the teen allegedly threatened the teacher, who responded by calling police. The student was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.



Alleged Restaurant Row purse-snatcher at large

Police are looking for a man who allegedly punched a woman in the face after grabbing her purse outside of a Restaurant Row establishment.

At 2:40 a.m. Feb. 8 the woman met the man at a Restaurant Row establishment and was talking him outside, when the man suddenly snatched her purse, police said. The man refused to return the purse and knocked the woman to the ground with a punch to the face.

After the woman hit the ground, the man continued punching her before fleeing on foot, police said.

The woman suffered a swollen right eye and facial contusions and was treated and released at the scene, police said.
