Woman, 28, arrested for car theft

A 28-year-old woman was arrested early this morning for suspicion of operating a stolen vehicle and two other related offenses.A police officer stopped the woman at about 2:25 a.m. in the downtown area to issue a citation for a traffic violation. The officer noticed a fraudulent tax emblem on the car's license plate and then found the license plate did not match with the vehicle it was attached to.
The officer then ran a check on the car's vehicle identification number and found that a 35-year-old woman had reported the car was stolen from her.
The officer then arrested the woman who was driving the car for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, fraudulent use of a license plate and fraudulent use of a vehicle tax emblem.
Co-worker arrested in tie to alleged fist fight
A 49-year-old man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a Sept. 17 altercation that left a 47-year-old man with a broken nose.
Police said the two men apparently got into a fist fight at their Kalihi workplace. The man with the broken nose identified the alleged assailant via a photographic lineup and the suspect turned himself in, police said. He was arrested for suspicion of second-degree assault.
Woman, 23, reports robbery at Wahiawa bank auto teller
A 23-year-old woman told police she was robbed Saturday night in Wahiawa after withdrawing money from a bank automated teller machine.
The woman said she parked her car in the bank's lot about 7:40 p.m., walked to the ATM and withdrew some cash.
As she walked back to her car, she told police, a stranger approached, pulled a knife and demanded money. The woman complied with the robber's demands to turn over the cash and her car keys, at which point the robber ran away.
Police were sent to the bank and searched the area but could not find the suspect, who the woman said appeared to be in his early 20s.
Man, 25, arrested in connection to sexual assault
A 25-year-old man was arrested about 9 a.m. yesterday in the Aloha Tower area in connection with a sexual assault alleged to have occurred on Maui. A 24-year-old woman told police the man assaulted her about 2 a.m. Saturday in Kahului. The suspect was arrested for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.
