Advertiser Staff

Four-time defending state champion Iolani is the No. 1 seed for this week's 50th Annual Hawaiian Airlines/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball State Tournament.

The Raiders, who went 11-2 en route to winning a sixth consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship, receive a first-round bye and begin tournament play in Wednesday's quarterfinals along with No. 2 Kaimuki (13-2) of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association, No. 3 Kamehameha-Hawai'i (15-0) of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation and No. 4 Baldwin (11-1) of the Maui Interscholastic League.

The 12-team tournament begins tomorrow with four first-round games at McKinley and Radford. After Wednesday's quarterfinals at the same two sites, the tourney moves to the University of Hawai'i's Stan Sheriff Center for Thursday's semifinals.

The championship is 8 p.m. on Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
