Police looking for woman in H-1 hit-and-run incident

Advertiser Staff

Police are searching for a woman who allegedly hit a motorcyclist earlier this month then fled the scene after getting out of her car and approaching the injured man.

At about 11:45 a.m. on Feb. 11, a motorcyclist traveling eastbound on the H-1 freeway near the A'iea off ramp was hit by a gold or tan four-door Honda, police said. The Honda may have damage to the left rear bumper, police said.

The motorcyclist fell off his bike and was lying on the road when the woman, estimated to be in her 30s or 40s, got out of her vehicle and walked toward him before stopping and returning to her car and driving away, police said.

A witness stopped and took the victim to The Queen's Medical Center where he was treated for a broken arm and multiple abrasions, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone. Free cellular calls are provided by Cingular, Nextel Hawaii, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless Hawaii.
