Whale carcass removed from Waimanalo Beach

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Transportation was using a front loader to remove a whale carcass today from the Waimanalo Beach behind Makai Pier.

Workers began removing the carcass, which was located behind private residences 1,000 feet down from the pier, this morning.

The state Department of Land and Natural resources had arranged to have the carcass dumped at the Waimanalo Gulch landfill.
