Advertiser Staff

Grammy-nominated (or if you count his work on "Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key, Vol. 1," Grammy-winning) ki ho'alu legend Ledward Ka'apana shows off the four decades worth of skills that won him a trip to the music industry's biggest dance tonight at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Tropics Showroom. Also performing at the 5:30 p.m. "An Evening at the Tropics" concert are Holunape, Aaron Sala and Ginai. The show is free to the public, and broadcast on KUMU-FM. 949-4321.

Do you have a way with stringing flowers? Tomorrow is the postmark deadline to send in applications for Lei Queen for the big May 1 Lei Day celebraton. Each year, the title is granted to a woman in one of three rotating age groups. Last year Flo Fernandez, right, won the Na Kupunahine category. This year the title is open to Na Wahine 'Opio, women age 18 to 30 who have some lei-making and hula experience. The first lei queen Nina Bowman was crowned in 1928.
