POLICE BEAT
Woman sought in freeway hit-run

Advertiser Staff

Police were searching for the driver of a car that hit a motorcyclist earlier this month and fled the scene.

On Feb. 11, at about 11:45 a.m., a motorcyclist traveling east on the H-1 Freeway near the 'Aiea exit was hit by a gold or tan four-door Honda, police said.

The motorcyclist was lying on the road when the car's driver, a woman estimated to be in her 30s or 40s, got out of her vehicle and walked toward him before stopping and returning to her car and driving away, police said.

A witness took the man to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken arm and scrapes, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cell phone.

FLIPPED SUV'S DRIVER ARRESTED

A 21-year-old man whose sport utility vehicle flipped over Friday on Kuala Street near the Pearl City Wal-Mart, resulting in a morning rush-hour traffic jam, was arrested Wednesday at The Queen's Medical Center on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle.

Police said the overturned SUV had been reported stolen Jan. 27.

Wal-Mart security guards told police they saw the SUV speed past the store before running into a tree and light post.
