Honolulu man identified as drowning victim

A 62-year-old Honolulu man who drowned while kayaking in a stream deep in Nu'uanu Valley last week has been identified.

Thomas Dallinger drowned Thursday, according to the office of the City Medical Examiner.

Dallinger was kayaking with two other men in Nu'uanu Stream during the early evening when his kayak overturned, police said. He was taken to Kuakini Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly before 7:45 p.m. The two other men were not injured.

The men apparently began their journey off Nu'uanu Pali Drive near Jackass Ginger Pool, near where they had parked their car, and had planned to finish a few hundred yards away, near the Ilanawai subdivision.
