Warriors sweep Trojans in volleyball

Lauri Hakala had 16 kills and seven blocks to lead the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team to a 30-28, 30-20, 31-29 victory over host Southern California Tuesday night in North Gym.

The Warriors won their seventh in a row, including all four on this five-day road trip, to improve to 11-4 overall and 9-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Trojans fell to 8-11 and 5-9.

Matt Carere added 11 kills, despite not getting any in Game 1, and Jose Jose Delgado had 10.

Juan Figueroa led the Trojans with 16 kills.

The Warriors return to Honolulu tomorrow and next play against UCLA March 10 and 11 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
