A total of 166 University of Hawai'i student-athletes achieved a grade-point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the fall semester in 2005, UH announced yesterday.

Of the 166, 94 were female and 72 male. Women's cross country/track and field had 15 members. Women's soccer and women's water polo had 13 apiece. On the men's side, UH football, which had the largest sample, had 24 members at 3.0 or better. UH baseball had 10.

"It is a testament to them, their parents, their coaches, their professors, and the academic staff at UH," UH athletic director Herman Frazier said.
