Manuscript workshops are rare enough in this town. But even rarer are the few that promise to get medieval on your manuscript making. Paul Werner wants to be your Marsellus Wallace of vellum preparation. The New York-based lecturer and author is down with all manner of traditional medieval manuscript craft. His areas of expertise include quill and reed tool making, encaustum inks, binders, dye-making and gilding. Werner's five-day workshop, "Dragonsblood and Ashes," starts today at the Academy Art Center, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuition is $280. But, hey, if you're into it ... 532-8741.

DOCUMENTARY AT THE DUKE

CRACK UP OVER CRAIGSLIST

Director Michael Gibson and producer Kent Redwine sent eight film crews out into the San Francisco Bay Area on Aug. 4, 2003, to track users (like this drag queen looking for a backup band) of craigslist.org, the world's largest community board. The result is the entertaining documentary "24 hours on craigslist." Gibson will be on hand at all evening screenings for Q&A sessions (his mother lives in Honolulu). Doris Duke Theatre, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today, tomorrow and Thursday.
