Advertiser Staff

A 26-year-old man stabbed late Saturday night in Waimalu has died at The Queen's Medical Center.

Lee Maunupau, 26, of Kailua, was pronounced dead last night, the city medical examiner's office said.

The stabbing was reported to police at 10:50 p.m. Saturday night.

According to police, Maunupau was among a group of people who confronted a 37-year-old man about driving recklessly on Kaluamoi Drive. Maunupau was allegedly stabbed by the motorist during an ensuing argument.

Police arrested the motorist, Edgar Saludez Gamulo, and charged him Tuesday with second-degree attempted murder.

The city prosecutor's office said the charge will be amended to second-degree murder sometime today.
