A Maui resident accused of selling classified military secrets to foreign governments and companies had his trial date moved to May this morning.

Noshir S. Gowadia, 61, was set to go to trail Jan. 10, but had his date moved to May 9 at the request of both the government and Gowadia's attorney. Also, Gowadia is having trouble funding his legal defense and his attorneys have only recently received classified clearance allowing them to review the government's evidence, according to information discussed in open court.

Gowadia has been in federal custody without bail since he was arrested Oct. 26 and charged with selling national defense information on the B-2 stealth bomber to foreign countries and companies.

Gowadia pleaded not guilty to six counts of "transmitting national defense information and exporting classified technical data related to defense articles to foreign persons" and violating the U.S. Arms Export Control Act.

His attorney, Chris Todd, declined comment.
