BYU-Hawai'i rolls past Hawai'i Pacific, 91-79

Austin Smylie scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lift Brigham Young-Hawai'i to a 91-79 PacWest Conference victory over Hawai'i Pacific last night at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

Smylie made 9-of-11 field-goal attempts and 8 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Eric Boyce added 17 points and Tai-hao Wu added 13 for Brigham Young, which led 46-19 at halftime.

In the first half, the Seasiders (6-5, 1-2) were 17 of 23 from the field and the Sea Warriors (3-11, 0-1) were 8 of 28.

Donnell Dobbins scored 19 points to lead HPU.

NO. 5 N. CAROLINA 102, CLEMSON 61

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Camille Little scored 16 points and La'Tangela Atkinson added 14 to lead North Carolina (14-0, 1-0 ACC) over Clemson (6-9, 0-1).

North Carolina went over 100 points for the second straight game and scored its most points since a 106-40 win over East Tennessee State on Nov. 24, 2002.

SOUTHERN CAL 58, NO. 9 ARIZONA ST. 50

LOS ANGELES — Eshaya Murphy tied a career high with 22 points and Southern California (9-5, 3-2 Pac-10) rallied to beat Arizona State (12-2, 3-1).

Camille LeNoir added 13 points for the Trojans, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

NO. 24 TEMPLE 77, CHARLOTTE 69

PHILADELPHIA — Lady Comfort had a career-high 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Temple (9-3, 1-0) to its 23rd straight Atlantic 10 Conference victory.

Kamesha Hairston had 18 points and Jennifer Owens 17 for the Owls. Sakellie Daniels led Charlotte (8-5, 1-1) with 20 points. Andrea Davidson added 13, Pam Brown 11 and Whitney Hoey 10.
