1873: County government was formally inaugurated in the six counties of Hawai'i. Lunalilo takes the oath as king in a ceremony at Kawaiaha'o Church.

1895: County government was formally inaugurated in the six counties of Hawai'i. Royalist rebellion against the Republic of Hawai'i continues. Robert Wilcox and some of his men are reported to be penned in Manoa Valley.

2001: County government was formally inaugurated in the six counties of Hawai'i. Kane Fernandez, who took over the family's carnival and circus business and built it into one of the most successful entertainment firms in Hawai'i, dies at the age of 64.
