A head-on collision between two vans this afternoon in Waikane on Kamehameha Highway forced police to close the road to air lift the victims to The Queen's Medical Center, according to Emergency Medical Services personnel.

The crash occurred about 2 p.m. in front of the Waikane Store, police said.

Three people were treated at the scene and listed in stable condition, the emergency official said.

A female passenger, about 26-years-old and who was in the first van, complained about stomach and chest pains and trouble breathing, the emergency personnel said. The 26-year-old male driver of the van sustained a broken leg, he said.

A 42-year-old woman driver of the second van had a broken arm, the emergency official said.
