TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Crumbs" debut, 8:30 p.m., ABC. In the best hands, family dysfunction can be oddly hilarious. Fred Savage plays a reasonably sane writer, returning home because his mom (Jane Curtin) is getting out of a mental institution. His dad (William Devane) — who left her for a young woman — and brother (Eddie McClintock) have their own issues. This is broad, dark humor, wittily written by Marco Pennette (who swears he based this on his real family) and perfectly played by a fine cast.

"Will & Grace," 7 p.m., NBC. This show started its season with a live episode, grabbing strong ratings. Now it will try again. The tentative schedule calls for a story about Karen's plans for a grand birthday party. Alas, Will and Grace and Jack embarrass themselves. Soon all four friends are locked in her bathroom.

OF NOTE

Figure Skating, 2:30 p.m., ESPN2; then 7 p.m., Bravo. First, catch the competitive side with the short programs in the U.S. Skating Championships, then savor the show-business approach. Bravo's "Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular" special includes former Olympic champions Brian Boitano and Kristi Yamaguchi, plus Elvis Stojko and more. Diana DeGarmo, the 2004 "American Idol" runner-up, sings.

"CSI: Miami," 7 p.m., CBS. This transplanted rerun starts with a nightclub that rents beds by the hour. (Hey, naps are important.) There's a murder of a woman who ran a sort of matchmaking service.

"The Four Kings," 7:30 p.m., NBC. After last week's fairly good opener, this episode seems stretched. Writing a magazine article about one-night stands, Ben feels obligated to try one; soon, all four guys have misadventures that are moderately amusing.

"My Name is Earl," 8 p.m., NBC. Filling in at a fast-foot restaurant, Earl is appalled to see that the cruel boss gets every advantage in life. What happened to the notion that bad karma punishes the wicked? Stick around, because there are some funny moments.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. When a big-time casino owner is killed, the entire team is on the case.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Now that she's decided to have the baby, Abby goes shopping with Kovak. Meanwhile, Ray's young girlfriend arrives with injuries.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. This reruns the episode that introduced a team member who had trouble shedding the methods she'd learned as a New York cop. She's played by Roselyn Sanchez, who co-starred in the recent remakes of two cop series — "Dragnet" (as a police detective) and "Kojak" (as an assistant district attorney).
