Former University of Hawai'i quarterbacks Tim Chang and Nick Rolovich signed contracts with professional football teams, the Associated Press reported yesterday.

Chang signed with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, who assigned him to NFL Europe. Rolovich signed with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League.

Chang, who passed for an NCAA-record 17,072 career yards with the Warriors, went undrafted after his senior season last year. The Saint Louis School alum signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in April, but was released on Aug. 9, five days before the Cardinals' first exhibition game.

He later signed with the Detroit Lions, but was released on Aug. 30.

Chang set the school record with 117 career touchdown passes while running June Jones' run-and-shoot offense.

Rolovich completed his senior year in 2002, and signed free-agent contracts the Denver Broncos in 2002 and 2003.

In 2002, Rolovich passed for 50 yards and scored on a 1-yard run in Denver's 31-0 preseason victory over Seattle.

Rolovich also played in the NFL Europe League in 2003 for the World Bowl XI runner-up Rhein Fire.

Rolovich went 8-1 as a starter for the Warriors in 2001 and broke 19 school passing records. He passed for 3,361 yards and 34 touchdowns, and his primary target was Ashley Lelie, who now plays for the Denver Broncos.

Rolovich is one of only three UH players to be selected MVP of the Hula Bowl. He won the award in 2002.
