1900: Chinatown merchants condemn planned fires in Chinatown and the quarantine in the district because of the bubonic plague.
1931: Honolulu Advertiser reports that work will begin soon on a new section of Kalaniana'ole Highway between Hanauma Bay and the Blowhole. It was the first unit of highway work under the federal aid program then in effect.
1936: Kahala residents petition for bus service to be extended to their area.
1957: Damon Estate announces the sale of 1,000 acres of Moanalua land, including Salt Lake, for $9.65 million to Clarence T.C. Ching acting on behalf of a group of local investors.
1960: Kilauea erupts, showering a 2-mile-long curtain of fire across Puna.
1978: The Most Rev. Joseph Ferrario is ordained a bishop in the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu, the first Catholic bishop ordained in Hawai'i.
