Man arrested cashing fake money orders

A 43-year-old Kailua man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to cash three counterfeit U.S. Postal Service money orders at a bank in Kailua.

Police were called to the bank about 2:25 p.m. and arrested the man who tried to pass the money orders for suspicion of first-degree forgery.



Police arrest bank robberies suspect

Police arrested a man who robbed two banks in the last month.

Tyler Lee was arrested and charged Thursday for robbing Hawaii National Bank on Dec. 29, and American Savings Bank on Jan. 5. Police did not specify which branches were robbed.



Suspect arrested in alleged sexual assault

A Fernandez Village man was arrested yesterday in connection with a sexual assault complaint filed by an 18-year-old woman.

The woman said the man sexually assaulted her in his car on Nov. 12 in Waipahu.

The alleged assailant was arrested yesterday for one count each of suspicion of first- and third-degree sexual assault.



Employee's 'family discount' leads to arrest

A 23-year-old cashier at the Wal-Mart store on Ke'eaumoku Street was arrested yesterday for allegedly undercharging his sister for hundreds of dollars of merchandise.

Police said the sister had more than $300 worth of goods when she entered a checkout line, but was charged only $14 by the cashier. The 17-year-old girl who brought the merchandise to the cashier was detained while she was leaving the store. The transaction was recorded on video surveillance equipment.

Police were called and it was quickly determined that the girl was the store employee's sister. Both were arrested for suspicion of second-degree theft.
