Tibetan masters teach in Manoa

Two Tibetan Buddhism masters of meditation, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, will teach Wednesday through Sunday at the Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center, Kagyu Theg-chen Ling, at 26 Gartley Place in Nu'uanu.

Khenpo Rinpoche, who will lecture on the early songs of celebrated Tibetan tantric yogi Milarepa, has taught across Europe, North America, South America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia. His talks are set for 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 2 p.m. Jan. 28 and 29.

Ponlop Rinpoche will discuss the Vajrayana traditions of "The Essential Points of Mahamudra, Dzogchen and the Middle Way" at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. Jan 28 and 29.

Cost is $20 per evening, $40 per weekend day; $70 for the entire weekend; and $150 for the entire series.

'GODLY PLAY' WORKSHOP SET

St. Andrew's Cathedral is planning an introductory workshop on "Godly Play" 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 11.

It will be led by Sally Mancini, an accredited Godly Play trainer who was a director of family ministry at Holy Trinity Church in Menlo Park, Calif., and a storyteller.

The goal of the workshop is to present godly play to adults the way the language of Christianity is presented to children.

MASS TO MARK NUN'S FEAST DAY

Blessed Mother Marianne Cope's first feast day is to be celebrated with a Mass at 10 a.m. tomorrow on Kalaupapa, Moloka'i and at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in downtown Honolulu.

After becoming beatified, she was given a feast day of Jan. 23, her birthday.

ANTI-POVERTY BIKE RIDE TODAY

"Break the Cycle of Poverty," a fundraising bike ride, begins at 8 a.m. today at Sacred Hearts Academy and ends at about noon at Damien Memorial School.

The 7.2-mile ride is sponsored by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

The Spiritual Life Center is hosting a Valentine's fund-raiser at 4 p.m. Feb. 12.

The event includes poetry reading by Kathleen Norris, and music by John Bryan and Wallen Ellingson.
