Clerk IDs punch-and-run beer robber

A 20-year-old man with no local address was arrested yesterday morning at Ma'ili'ili Beach after a clerk at a nearby convenience store on Farrington Highway told police the man had stolen beer from the store on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the clerk told police, the man came into the store, took a 20-pack of beer from a cooler and left the store without paying.

The clerk said when he confronted the man in the store parking lot the man punched him in the head then ran off with the beer. The clerk was treated and released at Saint Francis West Medical Center.

After spotting the man at the beach yesterday, the store clerk called police, who arrested the man for suspicion of second-degree robbery.



Teens allegedly beat uncle over TV dispute

Two Waimanalo boys, ages 13 and 14, were arrested yesterday after they allegedly beat their uncle to the point he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the two boys were arguing with their uncle, 52, at about 12:25 p.m. over the use of a television when the disagreement turned violent. The uncle was struck in the head and elsewhere with unknown objects, police said.



Suspect arrested for punching man in garage

A 23-year-old man was arrested at a Waikiki parking garage early yesterday morning after he allegedly punched another man in the face.

The victim, 31, told police he was walking out of an elevator when the other man attacked him, resulting in deep cuts to his face.

Police were called to the scene and arrested the alleged attacker for suspicion of second-degree assault.



Man under arrest tries to kick officers

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Waikiki early yesterday morning after he allegedly reached into a car and punched a man and then kicked three police officers who were in the process of arresting him.

The man who reported being punched said he was sitting in his car about 1 a.m. near the corner of Ka'iulani and Kuhio avenues when the other man approached him, challenged him to a fight and then reached into his car and struck him when he did not respond to the challenge.

Police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect for suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. As two male officers and one female officer were placing the suspect into a blue and white squad car, the suspect began to kick the three officers and was arrested for suspicion of three counts of assaulting a police officer.



Teen, 17, arrested for punching his mother

A 17-year-old Wai'anae youth was arrested yesterday for allegedly beating his 40-year-old mother on Thursday.

Police said the son punched his mother about 6:45 p.m. in the center of her chest and that doctors later determined that the blow fractured her sternum. The suspect, who had been hiding out since the incident, turned himself in at the Kapolei police station yesterday and was booked for investigation of second-degree assault, police said.
