Cure for medicine cabinet's clutter

Is your medicine cabinet cluttered with grimy mystery tubs and tubes? Cleaning expert Linda Cobb shares tips, on diynetwork.com, on tackling the mess:

  • Clear everything out. Wipe glass shelves with a little white vinegar and water on a soft cloth. For metal shelves, use a mix of baking soda and warm water.

  • Before restoring items, get rid of anything that has expired, doesn't have a date or has a label you can't read.

  • Replace toothbrushes at least every three months.

    CALENDAR FOR A CAUSE

January is coming to an end — are you still looking for the perfect wall calendar? Consider "The Heart of Hawaii: Healing Inspirations," a calendar created by the Aloha Street Nature Project. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Outdoor Circle and Hawai'i Nature Center. The eco-friendly calendar is printed on recycled paper with soy ink and features scenic images by photographer Susan Benay. Available at Shirokiya ($18) or www.wincubic.com/nature.htm ($20, includes shipping).
