Marine from Waipahu killed in Iraq

A 21-year-old man from Waipahu was killed in Iraq yesterday in what the U.S. Department of Defense is describing as a "non-hostile vehicle accident" near Al Taqaddum.

Pvt. Lewis T.T. Calapini, 21, was one of two Marines who were killed in the collision, Defense Department officials said

Calapini and the other Marine were assigned to the Anti-Terrorism Battalion, 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, II Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, N.C.

The accident was under investigation.
