UH reinstates 2 of 3 suspended Rainbow Wahine

Advertiser Staff

Two of the three suspended University of Hawai'i women's basketball players were reinstated today by coach Jim Bolla, the school announced.

Sophomore guard Saundra Cariaga and junior forward Pam Tambini were reinstated after a one-game suspension, while junior center Alofa Toiaivao remained suspended indefinitely.

Cariaga and Toiaivao told The Advertiser the suspension was a result of violating the team's 11 p.m. curfew Saturday following a loss at Fresno, Calif.

Cariaga and Tambini will be in uniform for tomorrow's home game against Utah State and will take part in 10 hours of community service. They will be on one-year probation.

"The three players have taken responsibility for their actions," Bolla said in a prepared statement. "We are still resolving Alofa's situation and hopefully the team will be ready to move forward."
