1908: Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports the American-Hawaiian steamship company is adding two more steamers between San Francisco and Hawai'i.
1919: Theaters and churches are closed in Hawai'i and all public gatherings in enclosed buildings are prohibited because of the flu epidemic.
1922: Kalihi-Kai School is destroyed in a fire.
1952: The Honolulu Advertiser reports that because of complaints, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu rolls back its plan to de-emphasize high school football. All prep games are to be played at Honolulu Stadium.
1999: Herman Wedemeyer, an All-American football player who retook the national stage three decades later as a regular on "Hawaii Five-0," dies at the age of 74.
2002: At least 12 Honolulu police officers are suspended or demoted for their part in the investigation of the late-night collision between retired police officer Clyde Arakawa and a 19-year-old woman killed in the crash in October 2000.
