  • Veteran business executive DONALD TAKAKI will continue as chairman of the board of the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau for a third year. Takaki's handpicked successor for 2006, Karen Hughes, was recently promoted to vice president of global leisure sales and distribution for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, headquartered in New York. Takaki is chairman and chief executive officer of Island Movers and HawkTree International.

  • Veteran restaurateur JIM WAGNER has been named general manager-Hawai'i for Compadres Bar & Grill. Tanner was previously general manager of Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in San Jose. Compadres marks its 22nd anniversary this month.

  • EDWIN I. TANAKA has been promoted to vice president of lending at Hawai'i Pacific Federal Credit Union. In the new position, he will oversee lending and credit risk management, as well as legal and compliance issues and other administrative functions.

  • Locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier Island Insurance Co. Ltd. has named JEFF FABRY vice president and chief information officer.

  • COREY MATSUOKA has been promoted to executive vice president at the Honolulu-based engineering firm SSFM International Inc.

  • Sodexho USA — one of the nation's leading providers of food and facilities management — has named MARC NAKAMOTO general manager for Sodexho facilities at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus, which includes facilities at Les Murakami Stadium, Stan Sheriff Center, Hale Aloha dorm cafeteria, and the Paradise Palms Cafe.
