downtown Honolulu.

The free-flowing traffic is the apparent result of a large number of

commuters deciding to make the Fourth of July into a four- or even five-day

weekend, since Friday's peak-hour traffic was very light as well.

As of 7 a.m. this morning, police had not reported a single collision on any

of the freeways or highways during the preceding three-hour period, which is

almost unheard of for a weekday morning.
